What is cosplay?

They have always been an important part of the Leipzig Book Fair and, of course, the Manga-Comic-Con: cosplayers and their imaginative costumes. The word itself is a portmanteau of the words "costume" and "play". Cosplayers re-enact characters from manga, anime, games as well as movies and tv shows. The costumes are oftentimes extremely detailed and their production is very time-consuming.
