Sustainability as a corporate principle

Responsibility and "Growth in Balance"
A company can only grow healthily in the long term if it behaves responsibly and with respect in all areas of its dealings - economic, ecological and social. Under its banner "Growth in Balance", the Leipzig Fair and Exhibition Centre has signed up to the principle of corporate responsibility. In 2009 they were the first German fair and exhibition company to be awarded the Green Globe Seal - a certificate of sustainable practices in the events and tourism sector that is recognised worldwide. Sustainability management at the Leipziger Messe is transparent and measurable. In the 2013 audit, it met 97 per cent of all the relevant criteria - far more than the percentage required by the standard.

Forward-looking approach to business
The CCL, and therefore the KONGRESSHALLE too, set great store by sustainable event concepts, conservation of resources, regional synergies and social implications. In 2013, the CCL received the "Meeting Experts Green Award" in honour of the sustainable mobility provisions at the 50th ICCA Congress in 2011. In 2012 it signed up to the events industry's sustainability code "fairpflichtet", an initiative of the German Convention Bureau (GCB) and the European Association of Events Centres EVVC).

Processes which conserve our natural resources are just as much part of their everyday life as the use of seasonal and regional, as well as fairly-traded, organic products and the use of disposable tableware for public events.
