    Saxony

Saxony is located in the border triangle region of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, and is part of the Neisse-Nisa-Nysa Euroregion, which was founded in 1991 to foster cross-border cooperation of the participating regions in all aspects of societal relevance. A total of over 4 million people live in Saxony. The City of Leipzig has about 527,000 inhabitants.

Saxony has a long tradition in industry and commerce. An efficient industrial economy developed here at a very early stage. Today, the Free State of Saxony is one of the most dynamic federal states of Germany.

The leading position of Saxony’s economy is boosted by high-tech industries, the automotive industry, and mechanical engineering. In recent years, many companies have decided to locate in Saxony because of the availability of highly qualified specialists, its modern infrastructure, and its lean, efficient

administration. The Saxon policy of industrial settlement has been a great success: More than 6,000 companies, among them business heavyweights like Volkswagen/Porsche, BMW, Amazon, and DHL

have opened offices, sites, and plants in Saxony since 1990.

All these factors make the region in the heart of the three federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia a highly popular location for investors, talented people, bon vivants, and thinkers. They all find an excellent base here in the heart of Germany – a place that’s beneficial to the development of innovation and creativity. To ensure a prosperous economic future, Saxony fosters the development of dynamic regional clusters, which concentrate the forces of producers, suppliers, service industries, research, education and other institutions.
